Celebrate National Infertility Awareness Week

Published On: April 7th, 2025

April is an exciting month for fertility treatment centers in Virginia and nationwide. The fresh new energy associated with spring makes it the ideal month to celebrate National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), and that’s exactly what we’re doing here at GIVF Fertility Center.

Headed up by RESOLVE, this year’s NIAW takes place from April 20 to 26, 2025.

4/20-4/26: Join GIVF In Celebrating NIAW 2025 & #ALLinFertility

The first annual NIAW took place in 1989, and it’s incredible to think how far we’ve all come in the past 36 years when it comes to shining the light on infertility and correcting the misinformation that’s out there.

This year’s theme, #ALLinFertility, is a play on words that highlights how easy it is to feel like you’ve been dealt a bad hand when first receiving an infertility diagnosis. In the words of NIAW’s webpage:

“…#ALLinFertility honors the resilience of those facing these challenges while spotlighting the need for inclusivity, understanding, and action.

Much like a deck of cards, family building holds countless possibilities. Each person’s journey is uniquely their own. There’s no single “right” way to create a family—there are many paths, each with its own set of challenges and rewards. Whether you experience going through fertility treatments, adoption, donor conception, fostering, or living child-free not by choice, we honor every path taken and every story you shared.

NIAW is a reminder that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Remember, you are not alone, and NIAW is designed to ensure you feel that in every cell of your being. Not only that, NIAW provides the perfect platform for you to reach out to your network and spread accurate and heartfelt information about infertility and the realm of treatment plans available to individuals and couples just like you.

At least one in every eight adults will have a hard time conceiving naturally and will need to reach out to their OB/GYNs, urologists, or fertility specialists to help them get pregnant. The better a broader audience understands this, the more we can build a support network (and legislation) that ensures every individual and couple feels included, supported, and provided for via community resources so they can become parents.

Simple ways to spread the word about NIAW’s mission

Here are some simple ways to get involved and spread the word about NIAW’s mission.

1. Wear, share, and promote Orange

Orange is NIAW’s signature color because it is associated with wellness, compassion, warmth, and passion. You can purchase a branded, orange-themed t-shirt from NIAW.

You can get your community involved by asking them to post messages about NIAW on their websites and social channels, and do be creative by:

  • Swapping porch and other safety lights out for orange bulbs this week. Then, don’t forget to take a picture and tag @resolveorg using the hashtag #LightItUpOrange.
  • Ask your employer to show their support (and sponsor you) by hosting a Wear Orange Day. Any employee who participates will get $10 donated to RESOLVE in their name and the chance to wear jeans and an orange or NIAW-themed shirt to work (see #2).
  • Download one of the many NIAW logos and informational graphics to use wherever you can in your social postings or promotional materials this week.

2. Participate in NIAW fundraising efforts

In addition to promoting community awareness and support around infertility and fertility treatments, NIAW is one of RESOLVE’s most significant annual fundraisers, securing much-needed funds for a powerful, largely volunteer-run organization.

Some of the ideas provided by resolve to raise funds (no amount is too small!) include things like:

3. Participate in the Five Day Challenge

Speaking of sharing your story, every NIAW offers the chance to take the Five-Day Challenge. The challenge is to use social media to share your personal experiences and how infertility leaves its mark on your life, work, and relationships – honoring the NIAW’s daily prompts.
