Ioanna Comstock, MD

Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist

Ioanna A. Comstock is a board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist who currently serves as a clinical reviewer in the Division of Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Food and Drug Administration in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.  She graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Boston College.  She then earned her medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School.  Dr. Comstock completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University where she was elected Administrative Chief Resident. During her residency, she won numerous teaching awards, certifications of superior clinical skills and patient service awards.

Dr. Comstock later attended Stanford University for her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Her fellowship thesis on the impact of obesity on endometrial receptivity was accepted as an oral presentation and awarded the First Place Outstanding Paper Award at the Annual Pacific Coast Reproductive Society meeting.

Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr. Comstock joined the academic faculty at the George Washington University Fertility and IVF Clinic.  For three years, she served as a specialist managing patients with a variety of reproductive endocrine disorders and infertility as well as an assistant professor teaching Obstetrics and Gynecology residents at GW.  She was selected by her peers as a Top Doctor in Washingtonian magazine in 2018 and 2019.

Dr. Comstock joined the FDA in September 2019 as a clinical reviewer of Investigational New Drug and New Drug Applications in the Division of Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology (DUOG).  She was promoted as the Acting Team Leader in January 2025 and she continues to make contributions to women’s health through her dedication to the overall mission of the Agency.
