FAQ: Traveling for Fertility Treatment

Some patients complete all their appointments at our clinic. In that case, the patient would need to stay in the Northern Virginia/Washington, DC, metro area for about 2 ½ to 3 weeks to complete a cycle in one trip.

For some patients who can only travel for a shorter period of time, they can choose to complete the standard monitoring appointments at an IVF clinic near their home, then travel to our Fairfax, Virginia, office for the final days of monitoring and the procedures.

If starting the cycle near their home, the patient would be monitored every few days for about 7–8 days on average before traveling to our area. The final days of monitoring, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer all then take place at the GIVF clinic in Fairfax, Virginia.

Patients often choose to come to GIVF Fertility for the 3 or 4 days leading up to and including egg retrieval and insemination, then return a few days later for the embryo transfer.
